Nursery School
Children are unique and we respond to individual needs in a flexible, positive way. At this crucial stage in your children’s development we encourage self-respect and a positive self-image. We understand that children commencing education display different levels of understanding, confidence, experience and competence. We see this as a strength, not a problem.
From the moment the children join our school they begin to develop an understanding of others and become more independent. Children thrive within our community where individual characteristics and talents are recognised, nurtured and cherished.
Intellectual environment ensures that all children learn and develop in our safe and secure surroundings. Our children follow the National Foundation Stage Curriculum which offers a wide variety of learning objectives which are initially based on play. Gradually, as the children are ready, they develop their reading and writing skills.
Our education strategy ensures personal, social and emotional growth through the development of communication skills as well as providing a good foundation in language and literacy, knowledge and understanding of the world, numeracy, creativity and physical development.
Our class sizes are small and the staff/pupil ratio is high, ensuring that each child can benefit from time spent in a one-to-one situation and in small groups. All our children are encouraged to develop lifelong creativity, make discoveries, play with ideas, and appreciate the beauty of the world around them.
At the end of their time in the nursery school, all children will have benefited from being in an atmosphere which encourages them to share and care for each other as well as giving them a sense of independence and enjoyment.
Our Early Years education provides the foundation on which all other phases of education and life depend.
Primary school
Developing skills and fuelling imagination
Education is a lifelong journey and in the Primary School we realize the importance of a good start. It is here that the foundations for learning, established in Nursery school, are strengthened. We encourage children to discuss in class, to ‘find out’ for themselves and to follow up work with their own research, so developing enquiring minds.
In the primary School, pupils are taught mainly by their class teacher. As they progress into grades 3-5, specialist teaching is introduced in English, maths and science to include ICT to fortify them for the First School leaving Certificate Exam.
Pupils are taught in small groups by well-qualified staff dedicated to the children in their care. The children benefit from access to first-class facilities which include the library, ICT suite, dedicated science and technology rooms and extensive grounds.
Pupils will discover a learning environment which is happy, stimulating, full of opportunities, challenges and excitement. Our pupils learn in a caring and positive atmosphere and are encouraged to ‘have a go’ and to ‘do their best’.
In the Primary School we recognize that each child is unique and has a distinct set of abilities and talents. In addition to what happens in the classroom, the pupils have access to a wide range of extra-curricular activities both during and after the school day. Activities change each term and reflect the academic, creative, sporting, musical and dramatic expertise within the school.
There is no doubting the distinctive nature of Intellectual Primary School – it provides an environment where young people flourish through individual care and encouragement. They progress into our Secondary School confident and ready to take advantage of the many opportunities that await them.
Our Primary School will refine perspectives, develop skills and further imagination.
Secondary School
Achieving success, fulfilling potential
Whether the children have been part of Intellectual Giant Christian Academy from the age of three, or are joining us from another school, they will benefit from a strong pastoral care system where academic and personal guidance is available to all. We will challenge and enthuse our pupils in all areas of school life.
The Senior School provides equal opportunities for all students in class sizes which generally do not exceed 30. Close personal attention from dedicated, specialist teachers enables the students to perform to their full potential.
Participation in extra-curricular activities is encouraged thereby promoting attributes such as teamwork, leadership, skills acquisition, healthy living and growth in self-confidence. The school has recreational space, including classic playing field. Each year all students will have the opportunity to participate in numerous educational and recreational trips.
We encourage achievement and monitor progress by creating an environment of hard work and self-discipline. Individual student assessment profiles, regular setting and marking of structured homework, frequent assessment with major end-of-year exams and two annual written reports for parents all contribute to this process. Happiness, mutual respect for others and self-respect are at the heart of all that we do.
Boarding House
“The school provides an environment where boarders feel safe and secure.”
Intellectual Giants Christian Academy runs a boarding school with separate houses for boys and girls. Boarding is offered on a full basis, reflecting the needs of the modern family. Your child’s needs are catered for in our relaxed family atmosphere where the needs of the individual are paramount.
The boarding houses are run by qualified, caring staff who understand the needs of pupils who are away from their families. We aim to make them feel at home in our safe and secure surroundings. There is a strong welfare structure; supervised homework sessions and a wide range of organized activities throughout the week and at weekends to make your child’s stay here an enjoyable one.
There are four houses in Intellectual Giants Christian Academy, namely Holiness, Victors, Conquerors and Achievers. Each student in the school belongs to a house. The house functions as both a pastoral and sporting platform. The housemaster and housemistress, assisted by the house teachers and the house prefects, run each house jointly. A hostel master and a hostel mistress live with the boys and girls respectively. Their duties are designed to complement those of the housemasters and housemistresses.
The house system is a means of injecting a spirit of cooperation among the students by organizing and encouraging competition between the houses on a basis other than age or ability. The system provides students of more general ability with an opportunity to make a contribution to school life and be acknowledged for doing so.
Students are located to one of the four houses on a random basis, so that the numbers and abilities in each of the Houses are ostensibly the same.

Recreation
While we believe at Intellectual that hard work and academic success are very important, we also hold that it is important for our students to relax and engage in non-academic activities. We aim to cultivate well-rounded individuals inside and outside the classroom.
Excursions
We run trips for our students all year round. Some tie straight into the curriculum; others are purely to increase the general knowledge and awareness of our students, to broaden their range of experience and to be just plain fun. Subject teachers lead excursions that relate to some specific topic being studied. At other times, trips will be arranged to increase the general knowledge, awareness and range of experience of a group. Sometimes, particularly at the end of term, leisure activities are arranged to reward good behaviour and achievement.
Sport
Healthy body, healthy mind. This slogan we take very seriously. In our experience, exercise produces motivated, focussed and happy students. Pupils in nursery 1 to grade 5 have games at least twice a week, the same applies to secondary students who want to participate in sports. The range of sports available is wide: from volleyball to tennis, from basketball to football - there's something for everyone.
Clubs and societies
Participation in a broad range of activities outside the classroom is typical of an Intellectual Giants Christian Academy student. Rather than letting this interfere with academic work, we aim to complement our students' studies by offering a large variety of stimulating, thought-provoking and engaging clubs. The following clubs are available for students’ participation: Jets Club, Press club, Literary and Drama Club, Bible club. Every student is required to belong to at least one of the clubs.
